MARCO LUCCIO
27 May to 28 June 2009
"This exhibition is exceptional for the unforgettable imagery of its most haunting prints." John Ancher

Totem City – The Changing Metropolis by International artist Marco Luccio, explores the city of Melbourne under construction .

The exhibition includes drypoints, etchings, drawings, paintings and sculptures inspired by construction sites and monumental structures of Melbourne - the Southern Star Observation Wheel at Docklands, the new Arched Yarra Footbridge and new Convention Centre near Pollywoodside, Southbank - along with obscure vignettes of smaller CBD building projects.

Totem City explores the city under construction, the city as a working sketch and a changing organism. It stamps the crane, a common thread in Luccio's work as a symbol for civilisation.

Forty works will be exhibited, along with showcases filled with sketchbooks, tools and photographs - as well as a DVD of Luccio working in his studio and on site.
